If you’ve ever noticed that your vision seems slightly distorted or lights appear stretched or words blur together, you might have astigmatism.

Don’t worry: it’s a common and easily correctable condition.

Learn what astigmatism is, its symptoms, and how our expert opticians at Glass Opticians can help you see clearly again.

What Is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism occurs when the cornea (the front surface of your eye) isn’t perfectly round. Instead of focusing light evenly, it bends light unevenly - causing blurred or distorted vision at all distances.

Common Signs of Astigmatism

  • Blurred or shadowed vision

  • Eye strain or headaches

  • Difficulty seeing clearly at night

  • Squinting to focus

How It’s Treated

Our optometrists can detect astigmatism during your routine eye exam. Treatment may include:

  • Specially shaped lenses for glasses or contact lenses

  • Refractive surgery (in some cases)

At Glass Opticians, we’ll recommend the best correction for your eyes, ensuring sharp, comfortable vision.
