Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” and for good reason. It can develop slowly, without pain or early warning signs, but regular eye exams can make all the difference.

What Is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, often due to increased pressure inside the eye. If left untreated, it can lead to vision loss.
Who Is at Risk?
Anyone can develop glaucoma, but you’re at higher risk if you:
Are over 40
Have a family history of glaucoma
Have diabetes or high blood pressure
Are of African, Asian, or Caribbean descent
The Importance of Early Detection
Because glaucoma develops gradually, regular eye examinations are essential, especially after age 40. At Glass Opticians, we use advanced imaging technology to check for even the slightest changes in eye pressure and optic nerve health. We are also glaucoma specialists with additional training and certifications in this area.
How We Can Help
If glaucoma is detected, we’ll work closely with you and your ophthalmologist to manage the condition through treatment and monitoring.
